Belzona Products Used: Belzona 1321, Belzona 1811, Belzona 1812, Belzona 9811
Project Description:
This industrial cone was experiencing extreme abrasion due to continuous exposure to high-impact, high-wear materials during operation. The deterioration not only threatened the structural integrity of the equipment but also led to frequent downtime and maintenance costs.
To combat this, DBR implemented a comprehensive Belzona abrasion protection system, combining several high-performance materials tailored to withstand harsh, abrasive environments. The repair utilized:
- Belzona 1321 as a bonding layer for ceramic tiles
- Belzona 9811 to anchor and support tile placement
- Precision-cut ceramic tiles to form a durable, wear-resistant lining
- Belzona 1811 and Belzona 1812 for encapsulation and grouting, ensuring a seamless protective barrier
The process was fast and efficient.
- Photo 1 shows surface preparation being completed using power tooling to ensure optimal adhesion.
- Photo 2 captures the dry-lay stage, where ceramic tiles were pre-fit and numbered to guarantee accurate placement during installation.
- Photo 3 demonstrates the final stages, with tiles bonded in using Belzona 1321 and grouted with Belzona 1812 for complete sealing.
Thanks to quick cure times and minimal downtime, the equipment was returned to service rapidly, with a reinforced surface capable of withstanding even the most aggressive abrasive conditions. This solution not only extended the life of the cone but also delivered long-term cost savings and reliability.
Other Belzona products could have been incorporated depending on the specific wear patterns and chemical exposure, showcasing the versatility and adaptability of Belzona’s engineered solutions.
